Zoolander on the Runway

The sanctity of Valentino’s runway was violated yesterday when Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson announced that there will be a second Zoolander movie.  Zoolander came to life in Valentino clothing, but I’m pretty sure the Zoolander from the movie would never be caught wearing Valentino.

What if more movie characters started verging with the runway scene?  We’ve already seen celebrities like Kanye West disgrace..I mean grace* our runways, so what’s next?

Air Bud 10 promoted with a golden retriever pawing the runway in a basketball jersey supporting the athletic trend from a designer? Kevin Spacey as a politician from House of Cards wearing a suit for the Armani runway?  Or perhaps he’ll just go naked like we saw a model do on the MT Costello runway during NYFW 2015.

While I appreciate the great attempt of the Zoolander 2 marketing team to get the word out on the movie, I can’t help but feel that luxury fashion and comical movies should remain separate entities.

What do you think?

And here’s Zoolander with a selfie stick.  This actually seems pretty fitting.

  1. Joseph Abbati says:

I don’t think luxury fashion needs to take itself so serious as to separate itself from the outside world. Anna Wintour knows this or she wouldn’t have been part of the spectacle. While luxury and comedy seem on polar ends, the convergence is what is needed from time to time to keep the world in check.
