Three Fall Sweater Looks that don’t Suck

Buy above pictured sweater here: Forever 21

Despite a drop in temperature, there’s no need for a drop in style every Fall.  Unless you’ve been relishing in the West Coast heat wave that struck last weekend, you’re probably preparing yourself for sweater weather and high heel booties.

While you’re recovering from the loss of your bikini and shorts days, the best cure is finding the perfect fall look.  I like to pair boring sweaters with sexy skirts, high heels, and a statement bag. (Note: On my really adventurous days I rock a pink vacuum just because I can.)

If you’re looking for something a bit more chill, (not everyone can rock a 3 in 1 Bissell), experiment with colorful leggings.  When you’re soul is saddened by the lack of sun, bring that cheerful color into your outfit instead! Take advantage of your highest high heel booties before the snow arrives.

When you’re transitioning between summer and fall weather, take advantage of those days that are in between.  Pairing a warm sweater with shorts and booties might seem like an unusual combo, but if you keep your upper body warm, that’s all you’ll need to pull off this fun, fashion-forward look!

The fall time is notoriously busy! Throwing on a basic sweater and jeans takes two seconds or less.  But to make that quick and easy look, pair it with your favorite accessories!  Go nuts, wear those high heels that make you feel like Elle Woods circa 2001 and wear that chunky bag that screams fall fab!

There are a few major sweater trends to watch for this Fall.  V-necks, cut-outs, and choker sweaters are still all the rage.  If you can get your hands on one that’s soft and silky, sexy, and warm, don’t let it go!

Wardrobe Staples for any Ultra-Fem Fashionista

It’s no secret that the color pink makes up at least half of my wardrobe.  Between my ever-growing collection of pink handbags and my penchant for buying anything that sparkles, my closet would be the perfect playground for an all-girls elementary school.  Instead of show and tell, they could play dress up.

Every article I read about wardrobe staples, defines them as more “neutral” and “basic.”  But this commonly used definition is an overgeneralization.  A tomboy might live in raglan tees, a sports enthusiast might live in jeans and a jersey.  Different styles should have different staples.

My new favorite wardrobe staple are these light pink chunky heel booties from AMI Clubwear.  A “staple” should be anything that is comfortable enough and versatile enough to wear all the time and match with almost anything!  I wear these booties with skinny pants during the day, and dress them up at night with a little black dress.

In the winter, every wardrobe needs a jacket staple as well.  This year I’ve forgone the long trench coats and have slithered into a collection of leather moto jackets!  This light pink leather jacket from Zara can instantly turn a boring neutral outfit into a statement.

Last but not least, my ring-covered hand will be holding this hot pink leather bag from Danier leather.  After all, combining different shades of pink in one outfit is one of life’s many pleasures.

Airport Style Essentials to Keep you Comfortable

With Thanksgiving around the corner most of you will be jetting off somewhere to spend the holiday with family or friends!  While being with family and eating obscene amounts of food you’d never normally eat is the fun part, getting there via flying is the necessary hassle!

screen-shot-2016-11-23-at-12-52-33-pm

There seems to be a common misconception that when you fly, the only way to be comfortable is if you look like you just got out of bed.  I remember a person once telling me that they would laugh at any woman they saw wearing heels in the airport.  Well, I’m definitely a woman that wears heels in the airport.  Just because I’m preparing for a journey through the sky, doesn’t mean I have to throw away my usual “style staples.”

Instead, there are a few style rules I follow when traveling.

  1. Layers: The only thing worse than being too hot on a plane, is being freezing cold on a plane.  I’ve definitely experienced both.  Living in San Francisco has taught me the art of layering.  It can be applied to airport style to give you ultimate comfort every step of your trip.

2. The pants you wear should be comfortable and soft.  Most importantly, whatever you wear should be long enough to cover your entire legs from touching those scratchy plane seats.  While many people choose leggings, a pair of soft flared jeans while give you even more style without compromising your level of comfort.

3. As for shoes, you should be able to walk quickly and efficiently in them.  That being said, there are a ton of heels that can be even more comfortable than flats!

4. A headband to keep your hair tucked comfortably behind your ears is always a plus.

5. Lastly, a cross-body handbag can go a long way when you’re juggling all your luggage.  The more time you can spend with nothing in your hands besides your passport and your plane ticket, the better.  A handbag with a cross-body strap will ensure you’ve always got your important items right on your person.

The Statement Piece Every Wardrobe Needs

screen-shot-2016-10-24-at-12-10-32-pm

We may not all want to wear bold patterned dresses all the time, but no wardrobe is ever complete without at least one wild dress you thought would be unflattering until you tried it on.  Vertically challenged individuals like myself, probably already know that patterns aren’t easy to pull off when you’re not 5 foot 9.  One key piece of fashion advice I learned from a young age, is that solid colors make you look taller, and crazy patterns can make you look shorter.

The shorter the dress, the more it will emphasize the length of your legs!  Pick a dress that has the same pattern from top to bottom.  Know which colors flatter your skin tone, and stick to them!

Hot Fall Picks to Shop ASAP

screen-shot-2016-09-12-at-12-21-52-pmThis season’s trends have gotten me really excited!  The past couple of years I sometimes found myself searching for styles that just weren’t out there.  I could have done without the fringe trend, the romper/jumpsuit trend, and the bodysuit.  But this season’s trends are starting out strong with tons of denim from denim jackets to super destroyed denim.  Oversized blouses and bold metallics are working together to give us looks that are not only effortlessly casual, but simultaneously glamorous and chic!  For jewelry, I’m all about hunting down the perfect pair of ear climbers.

OOTD: Casual and Glam

Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 9.15.41 PM

While I’m not normally into graphic tees, this one was too true to ignore.  Wearing high heel pumps with a pair of light-wash skinny jeans will make your look glamorous and chic, while still comfortable.  If you’re a true girly-girl you know that sparkling, bedazzled jewelry can be hard to ignore.  Wearing a pair of crystal studded earrings and a crystal arm cuff is the perfect way to make a grungy tee more feminine and chic.

Outfit of the Day: Comfortable and Cozy Classics with a Twist

Today’s look is inspired by warm, soft and comfortable tones of cream, grey, beige, and brown. Fall is the season to embrace bulky knit sweaters, flare jeans, and suede booties.  While a pair of plain high heels booties may be enough to make you look well put-together, I say that the more unique the shoe, the better.  The Salvatore Ferragamo booties from Farfetch in the look below will take any look into a conversational piece!

Cheetah Print: Yay or Nay?

Last Fall we saw animal prints make a huge splash across the runways.  The question is, will cheetah prints make a comeback this Fall as well?

DSC_6065So what do you pair with a vibrant cheetah print jacket?  Try some chunky jewelry and a bold pair of high heels.  This shot features purple suede high heels, a statement necklace and bracelet, and a pair of oversized vintage (my grandmother’s sunglasses from 40 years ago!) round sunglasses.

For look number two I paired the cheetah jacket with a pair of ripped jeans, Chanel sunglasses, Miss Sixty sandals, and a brown watch.
