Best Looks from Academy of Art’s Graduation Fashion Show 2015

It’s amazing to think that such young men and women can create such beautiful and inspiring looks. Before the show, the line to get in was wrapped around the corner for practically two blocks, but it was definitely worth the wait!  At this year’s Academy of Art graduation fashion show, we saw bold colors, unique shapes, off-kilter hemlines, unusual fabrics, and sky-high platform heels.

This hot pink and orange costume gives a new meaning to extravagant.  It was my personal favorite. This dress/pant suit hybrid stole the attention that night.  We all know models are tall, but this one had some help from a pair of tall platform shoes.

Next we have a look that used stiff shapes to accentuate the shoulders and hips.  The soft blue and the bright oranges mixed together to create a great spring vibe.

Accessories got beautifully funky this year.  This futuristic-looking handbag created the perfect intersection between wild shapes and unusual materials.  It’s about time our handbags get an all-needed modern remodel.

Futuristic Fashion Runway Show

When you think outside the box, you can discover so much more.  This Friday Denver is hosting the 10th annual runway show where all the fashion designs are created from unique, unorthodox materials.

Architects and interior designers from design firms in Colorado feature their looks in the Pret-A-Porter competition.

These talented designers try to recreate runway looks with a futuristic feel.

When I saw this post I couldn’t help but think of Iris van Herpen’s futuristic designs and use of 3-D printing.  Take a look at the fashion in the early 1900’s and then see the fashion now.  There’s a world of change.  I kind of hope that in the 2100’s this odd sense of shape and materials becomes the norms.
