The Best High Heels from Katy Perry’s Shoe Collection

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on a pair of Katy Perry shoes.  They’re fun, funky, and a little weird, all of which is exactly what I want.  This season there seems to be a fruit theme happening.  The Citron sandal is so perfect for a summer picnic or weekend brunch with your friends.

The lime ones make me want a dance bar and a margarita in hand.  They can so easily be dressed up or down depending what you pair with them.

These chain link strappy sandals would be fairly ordinary if they didn’t have that unique chain link heel.  The smallest details can set shoes apart and make them truly unique.

Get Pumped for Spring

Before you go off and buy too many pairs of sandals, don’t forget that there’s nothing a high heel pump can’t solve.  I love these splatter painted pumps because they’re edgier than your typical “classy” pump.  Although I had to add those straps to keep them on my feet, I think the integrity of the shoes remained intact.

Believe it or not, pumps are one of the most versatile items you have in your closet.  They can take you from day to night with a simple outfit change.

Pair them with jeans by day and a dress by night.  Make them classy with a button down or make them edgy with a metallic bomber jacket.  The choice is yours.  Here are some of my hot Spring pump picks to shop now:

Accessorize with your Favorite Spring Items

Spring is an exciting time because it means more days wine touring, more open toe sandals, more floppy hats as protection from the sun, and more summery, youthful colors.

My go-to wine touring look always includes something girly (pink floral dress/pink handbag), something elegant and classy (wide-brimmed beach hat), and something fresh for Spring (light blue open-toe sandals).

I like to believe that what we wear is a reflection of our inner beauty.  In the Spring and Summer we wear light, airy colors to reflect the joy we feel about the warm weather.  In the Winter months we wear dark, bold colors to reflect our desire to hide ourselves from the harsh weather (unless you live in California!)

Here’s a collection of some essential accessories every woman needs for Spring!  Underneath your piles of Winter clothes, hopefully you can pull out some of your favorite light accessories because sometimes a blast from the past is exactly what you need to revitalize and inspire your style in the future!

The Greatest Boots are Sky High

Sometimes all we need to update our wardrobe is a pair of boots that are thigh high without the price being sky high! Am I right?

There are very few perks in experiencing winter.  Some will say skiing is a perk; I’d argue that’s more of a chore.  Some would say snow is so pretty, I’d say palm trees are more pretty and they don’t turn us into an icicle.  Some would say winter makes us appreciate summer; I say I’d still appreciate summer if summer were all year round.

One thing we can agree on is that knee-high or thigh-high boots are a big part of making winter tolerable.

Tuesday Shoesday

Whether you’re celebrating Tuesday Shoesday, Taco Tuesday, or Valentine’s Day…or all three, your style is a vital component.

pom-pom

Some may say the lingerie is the most important part of any Valentine’s Day look.  However, I’d of course argue it’s the shoes…primarily because half the time I’m not wearing any lingerie..

Whether you agree or not, Taco Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to wear something that makes you feel special.  Tuesday Shoesday should inspire your weirdest shoe obsessions.  I wore these shoes at the Fairmont Hotel and garnered lots of heart-warming awkward stares.

Here’s to wearing your heart on your shoes all day!

Happy V-Day!

Wardrobe Staples for any Ultra-Fem Fashionista

It’s no secret that the color pink makes up at least half of my wardrobe.  Between my ever-growing collection of pink handbags and my penchant for buying anything that sparkles, my closet would be the perfect playground for an all-girls elementary school.  Instead of show and tell, they could play dress up.

Every article I read about wardrobe staples, defines them as more “neutral” and “basic.”  But this commonly used definition is an overgeneralization.  A tomboy might live in raglan tees, a sports enthusiast might live in jeans and a jersey.  Different styles should have different staples.

My new favorite wardrobe staple are these light pink chunky heel booties from AMI Clubwear.  A “staple” should be anything that is comfortable enough and versatile enough to wear all the time and match with almost anything!  I wear these booties with skinny pants during the day, and dress them up at night with a little black dress.

In the winter, every wardrobe needs a jacket staple as well.  This year I’ve forgone the long trench coats and have slithered into a collection of leather moto jackets!  This light pink leather jacket from Zara can instantly turn a boring neutral outfit into a statement.

pink-1

Last but not least, my ring-covered hand will be holding this hot pink leather bag from Danier leather.  After all, combining different shades of pink in one outfit is one of life’s many pleasures.

Election Day Chaos Calls for Organization at Home

When everything is so disorganized, it calls for a little organization in your life…starting with your closet.  After you head to the polls and cast your vote, whether you’re filled with a sense of clarity, confusion, or worry, there’s no better way to de-stress than cleaning up the mess that you live with every day in your home.

fullsizerender-1

After a long time of hating the pile of shoes taking up the entire floor of my closet, I finally ordered a shoe rack and did some much-needed organization.  Now I can actually step into my closet instead of admiring it from afar.

While achieving organization in a small apartment is sometimes tricky due to the sheer lack of space to store your items, it is possible.  All you have to do is think strategically and build upwards.  While I hope to one day need a shoe rack as high as a skyscraper to store all my high heels, this shoe rack with five shelves was a good start!  I actually added another shelf by extending two bars downwards so that the floor acted as another shelf, instead of having the bottom shelf sit right on the floor.  (Sure, this was an accident due to a building error that I was too lazy to go back and fix, but oh well it worked out for the best!)

When you’re staring at the heap of shoes lying messy on your closet floor, the thought of buying more shoes can make you a little tense!  After organizing my shoes on this shoe rack I discovered something great. There are three spots left on top, perhaps for a few new pairs of Fall’s hottest booties?  Jeffrey Campbell is definitely high on the list with all the pink booties they’ve debuted this season!

When everything’s lined up it’s easy to see the trends in your style choices.  It’s easier to see what you have and what you’re missing.  Organizing your closet should be a clear choice. Unfortunately, after having to make a Sophie’s choice in this election, you can now actually make a good one at home, with the only consequence being happiness and admiration for your newly improved living space!

5 Things a Night of Dancing will always Turn Into

  1. Drinking becomes a sport.  Who can hold their drink in their hand when dancing while spilling the least.

IMG_1538

2. Those yummy cocktails you were drinking earlier in the evening, are slowly replaced by any alcohol you can get quickly poured into a plastic cup.

3. Whatever happened that day, will soon be forgotten when you’re wedged in between 100 other drunk individuals flailing on the dancing floor.

4. By the end of the night, the shoes that you once admired so much only hours ago, soon become your mortal enemy.

5. Regardless of what you were wearing that night, you end up waking up naked the next morning.

Road-Tripping in Style

Last week I took a road trip to Santa Barbara and Newport Beach.  Luckily I wasn’t the one doing the driving, so my biggest concerns were about what I should wear, how I should do my hair, and which sunglasses I should wear.  He held the camera and posed awkwardly in front of the pacific ocean as we drove down the 1 along the coast of California.

IMG_02121

IMG_01761

I wanted to be comfortable on the long drive.  My black dress from Tobi was perfect because it was lightweight and soft. My obnoxious big black watch weighed down my arm, reflected the sun, and made my look a bit more rugged! I wore a big chunky Stella & Dot bracelet to give my look some much-needed bling!

IMG_03281

I could spend hours just admiring the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Outfit of the Day: A Dash of Pink

IMG_000911122

IMG_001411

Let me start off by saying I’m not a huge fan of maxi skirts…I prefer short skirts.  But when it’s cold out, sometimes a maxi skirt seems much more appealing!  I like this one because it’s hot pink!  If you’re wondering why the skirt looks a little weird in these pics, it’s because it was friggin cold and windy that day!  On windy days, maxi skirts sometimes end up looking like weird harem pants! The pink helps make a miserable weather day, more bright and cheery!
The sweater is one of my favorites!  I love that plunging v-necklines are still in style! Just take a look at all the red carpet looks from any of the recent award shows! It looks like plunging necklines are here to stay for at least the next little while!

What’s the best thing about the holidays?  There’s lots of opportunities to dress up!  The parties and celebrations, nights out with old friends from home, dinners with family, and an overall cheery mood at your local bars!

Every year my collection of little black dresses seems to grow almost exponentially.  This season I’m all about the backless dresses.  The dress above turns into a party when the sweater comes off because it reveals a nearly backless design.  More dresses and pictures to come. 😉

Happy Holidays!

Ultimate Setup for Doing Work on the Weekend

sunday

It’s been a fun weekend.  Now it’s time to hunker down and get some work done. There’s nothing better than being able to work from home in bed with a cup of tea/coffee.  Learning how to work in Illustrator has been great.  Since I can’t draw to save my life, (even my stick people suck), I think it’s about time I learn the computer tools that will help me sidestep the drawing part of a career in fashion!…Check out my handy work above!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Normally you probably wouldn’t think to put bright pink and orange together in the same look. But when you’ve got basic chic black pieces working together with a pair of casual flare jeans, adding two bold colors will help make your look stand out in a crowd. These sky-high orange patent stilettos are guaranteed to make your look a showstopper.  The pink handbag, draped on your shoulders far away from your feet, will give the top half of your look the feminine color you’ll adore.

This past weekend I went wine touring in Napa.  I wore my new pink dress from Tobi and although the shoulders kept falling down and it showed off my behind if I bent over even slightly, it was totally worth it.

We checked out a few different wineries.  Our first stop was Cline, which was an amazing winery.  We tried a few white wines and a few red.  I ended up buying their two of their reds, one of which was a cool climate Syrah that was peppery, smokey, and full-bodied…just how I like it!

Next stop was lunch and then tasting at Cornerstone and Keating wines.  At Keating we tried a ton of reds, took some pics, and enjoyed the sun shining on that beautiful Saturday.  Afterwards we spent some time roaming around Sonoma plaza.  We happened to stumble upon the coolest champagne tasting bar called Sigh.  Their main champagne tasting flight was amazing, and if we had more time I would have bought the second bottle we tried!  Did you hear that there was a study stating that drinking champagne can help fight against Alzheimers and Dementia?  Bring on the flutes!

There’s nothing better than a day filled with friends, wine, champagne, and sunshine.

Does Lingerie Affect a Woman’s Attitude?

lingerie

Any woman can tell you that our days are determined by two factors: the shoes on our feet and the lingerie we’re wearing.  Studies have suggested that lingerie affects women’s attitudes.  One poll revealed that almost 50% of women say they feel more confident and sexy when they’re wearing nice lingerie, while nearly one quarter of women say that they match their underwear to their mood.  Only 1 in 10 women said they sometimes go commando…sorry guys.

So why does what we wear under our clothes affect the way we feel?  I rarely ever have on a matching underwear and bra, which is why I feel extra special the odd time that I do!  Whether we like it or not, our style choices define who we are…from our mismatched socks to our hair style.  My socks never match, but you can count on my shoes being high and my smile being wide.

Get Ready to Kick up your Heels Saturday Night

Created with the StyleChat App

There’s nothing better than dressing up and dancing your butt off for a night. Heading to a club this Saturday night?  Here’s what you’ll want to make your night of dancing a million times better!

First, the lbd…for any of you not in-the-know, lbd is “little black dress.”  Like the Nasty Gal dress featured above, go with a dress that features any or all of the following and you’ll be golden: lace, corset body, spaghetti straps, and/or a body-con silhouette.

For shoes, think stiletto high-heel open-toe black booties.

Arm yourself with a gold bracelet cuff, a feminine pink clutch, and boom your a vision in black and gold!

Last but not least, swipe that soft pink blush across your already rosy cheeks, use your black eye-shadow as a liner, and highlight your brow.

See y’all on the dance floor…or the stage!

Spend your Long Weekend in Style

Finally, the long weekend is here.  Whether your’e getting together with friends, spending time with family, or enjoying time alone to do what you please, we all want to spend this long weekend in style.

IMG_1417

Stay stylish and relaxed in a pair of your favorite ripped jeans.  Forget the tiny rips, go for an awesome retro pair that leaves your entire knees exposed.  Keep the heat up a notch with a pair of bold high heels.

After you throw on your favorite tee, all you’ll need are the final touches.  We’re all hoping for a sunny weekend so make sure to stay protected in an oversized bold pair of sunglasses.  You’ll be unstoppable in a pair of Chanel’s or Tom Fords!

Last but not least, keep your scent fresh with Versace’s Bright Crystal perfume.

Have a great long weekend my lovelies!

Best and Worst Looks from the 2015 VMA Awards

Ahh…award shows.  Who actually cares about the awards? It’s all about the fashion right? Of course!

So where should we start…

We all know that gender lines are being crossed…and yes I’m happy about it.  But Scarlett Johansson’s pink jumpsuit is perhaps a bit too…I don’t know… if it were me, I’d wear the fanciest dress possible to every award show I was invited too! Not my favorite, Scarlett, but good job on the color!

Victoria Justice nailed it! Her sparkly Versace dress is designed for ultimate envy! Beautiful.  Just absolutely perfect. It’s pink, black, silver, sparkly, sexy (not slutty), feminine, unique, geometrically-pleasing… the list goes on and on. What do you think of it?

Maia Mitchell…the dress was too plain…too casual…too normal.  This is an award show people, pull out all your bedazzles!  The little black dress idea is great…but find one with a bit of sparkles or a unique design!  Even the shoes were simple.  If you’re going to wear a simple, modest dress, at least make your shoes or accessories over the top!

So what did we learn from this year’s MTV VMA awards? Plunging necklines are always great! Sequins and bright colors are divine, but always choose a dress over a jumpsuit!  And if you’re going to go for a plain and elegantly simple dress, at least make your accessories stand out!

Summer Garden Party

Time to get in your last few garden parties before the Fall.

Last weekend I went to a garden party where we dressed all in white.  I wore a white dress with a black trim and a crystal Swarovski necklace.  I balanced the feminine look with a very masculine oversized watch.  I kept the black and white trend going with a pair of Aldo’s white and black color-blocked wedge sandals.

My blue-green Ray-ban’s shielded my eyes from the hot, shining sun while I sipped my white wine.  Now that’s how you do a weekend right.  Too bad I was having so much fun that I forgot to snap a pic while I was all dressed up.

Fall Trends: The Suede Patchwork Skirt

FullSizeRender copy 3

Created with the StyleChat app

Today’s look is inspired by the rich fall colors and luxurious materials dominating store shelves.  Zara’s featuring a bold patchwork skirt with our favorite fall colors, burgundy, navy, beige, and black.  Since the look features some bold pieces, i.e. the shoes and the skirt, I kept the jewelry simple, subtle, and silver.  While you don’t have to, I matched the handbag to the shoes because we want all the attention drawn to the skirt, not the bag.  Take advantage of our nice fall weather by wearing the look without a jacket.  The cold weather will be upon us before we know!
