It’s Been 15 Years Since Elle Woods Made her Sparkly Debut

15 years ago I learned to embrace my love for the color pink.  After all, if Elle Woods can be taken seriously dressed in a hot pink suit and sparkly pink high heels, than why can’t we all right?

IMG_4191

I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since Legally Blonde was released.  Although I pride myself in being original, I won’t deny the fact that Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods is one of my all time fav fashionable movie icons that I’ve admired since I was young.  That movie reminded me that you can never have too many sparkles, never wear too much pink, and people should never judge someone based on their appearance!

Lets celebrate the 15 year anniversary by shopping for these pink must-haves!  I definitely think Elle Woods would approve!  Afterall, “whoever said orange was the new pink, was seriously disturbed!” ~Elle Woods

Balance the Classy with the Edgy in all your Summer Looks

Screen Shot 2016-06-16 at 9.06.28 PM

Another way I like to make my predominantly feminine wardrobe a bit edgier, is with a stack of silver rings!  Just because you’re wearing pink lipstick, pink shoes, a pink skirt, and pink shades, doesn’t mean you can’t wear it with a black chocker or a some chunky rings and black nail polish.

Have you ever had a combined party: two people celebrating their birthdays for example? I love to do the same thing with my outfits: wrap two parties into one.   It might be an all classy and girly cocktail party at first glance, but then when you take a closer look you see that there’s a whole other party happening, and it usually involves an oversized watch, too many silver jewels, and dark nail polish.  So go ahead, experiment; find the perfect match between your sexy and sweet, and your edgy daredevil.

Introducing GILMAR BOX: Online Designer Goods You’ll Love

Finding out about an amazing online fashion retailer that sells designer goods at great prices is like finding 10 pairs of shoes hiding in your closet.  This week I learned about GILMAR BOX, an online outlet that sells past designers’ collections for men and women.

Recently, I’ve gravitated towards wanting quality designer staple pieces, instead of buying a ton of fast fashion each season.  I’m not the only Millenial to jump onto this bandwagon, but I find myself looking at the designer pieces, falling in love, and then quickly falling out of love when I see the price tag! That’s why I was so excited to hear about GILMAR BOX, an online retailer that understands we want style, quality, and designer goods, without doing too much damage to our wallets!

Of course, my shopaholic tendencies got the better of me, and I spent forever looking through every category of items finding tons that I loved.  These floral denim pants with pink made my day.  Never underestimate a piece of clothing that makes a statement with an unexpected pop of color!

I think that unexpected pop of color is what turned me on to this colorblocked dress as well.  There’s something so fresh and elegant about a dress with a touch of color and a flared skirt.   It’s modest, classy, flirty, and fun! What more could you want?

In any wardrobe, it’s always important to have wild and crazy statement pieces, mixed in with your timeless classics.  This short-sleeved dress turns a simple silhouette into a statement with cool shapes and a touch of color.

When I’m looking for a way to make a casual look with jeans a bit more intriguing, I look to the sweater.  This multi-colored sweater is a much better alternative to your go-to typical crew neck all-grey sweater.

Then I came across this black coat, and was so enthralled by its detachable bottom. What a clever and convenient idea! I spend most of my days switching back and forth between short and long coats depending on the occasion, after all, both silhouettes are always in style.

When I finished my search through GILMAR BOX’s amazingly timeless and innovative products, I noticed a trend: I was a little obsessed with all of the pieces from the designers, Frankie Morello and Iceberg!

Sexy and Chic Fall Look

Created with the StyleChat App

Today’s look is inspired by feminine rocker chic style.  Since it’s fall I’m welcoming in the suede skirts, leather handbags, and leather moto jackets (yes, they’re STILL in style!).

The conservative pink button-down shirt will add a professional, feminine touch to create a great juxtaposition with the rocker vibes coming from the studded skirt and leather jacket.

The earrings, fun and pink and on trend with the fringe craze, will let you keep your look fun and whimsical.

I don’t know about you, but I’m all about these cat-eye sunglasses! The brown will lighten up the look a bit.  The grey handbag fits in nicely with the silver detailing throughout the look.

Summer Must-Haves

Summer’s the time to bring out your white jeans or white skirts, your bright pastel-colored accessories, and your chunky jewelry.  Trade your sweaters in for some new off-the-shoulder crop tops in vibrant blues or feminine pinks.  The above image features three fun elements of pink: a pink Aldo purse, a silver and pink chunky necklace from Swarovski, and some light pink nail polish to tie it all together.

We’ve got a big chunky watch to add some extra flavor, a pair of dainty multi-colored butterfly stiletto heels to make your legs look miles long, and a pair of Ray-Ban Clubmasters to give you that extra cool factor!

Cheers,

J. Molly

Summer Trend Alert: Pink

A few weeks ago I went browsing through Nordstrom.  I ended up in the dressing room with five items, four of which where pink.

FullSizeRender[1] 2

My favorite was by far this body-forming dress in the most beautiful shade of bright pink.  The cut is refreshingly modest with sleeves, a high-neck, and a respectable knee-length.

IMG_4360

I tried on a long pink vest, and while it was cute in theory, making a decent outfit out of it seemed a bit difficult!  And while the patterned dress had a slight Diane von Furstenberg thing going for it…it was just too much pattern on me.

Stick with solid pink, and you’ll be in the clear!

Fifty Shades of Pink

Created with the StyleChat App

This summer it’s time to add a little pink to your look.  From handbags to shoes to coats to skirts to tops to lipstick to nail polish and much much more, take your pick of pink.  In handbags we’re seeing anything from a small clutch to a full-sized satchel in pink.  If you can’t afford the pink Chanel bag featured above, try the light pink knockoff from Aldo (also featured above).

Bring out the Elle Woods in you with pink lipstick, pink nail polish, and pretty pink pumps.

Want just a subtle touch of pink?  Keep your outfit neutral and add a touch of pink with a chunky necklace or a statement ring.

Pink shoes can go a long way in adding some flavor to a basic skinny jeans and t-shirt look.

Looking to add a few new items to your wardrobe for summer? This weekend’s the time to do it because many retailers are hosting their Memorial Day weekend sale.  I’ve surfed all the hotspots to find some chic items on sale.

ShopBop

Shopbop is currently running a 70% off sale.  I scoured through to find this hot pink zipper midi dress.  Originally $198.00 and now $138.00, it’s time to make a purchase.  If you’re not into pink, this dress also comes in black, blue, and white.

Next on the list is a blush pink faux leather jacket from Shopbop. It was originally $95.00 and now it is $47.50.  This jacket would look great worn with a casual top and pair of jeans or worn with a dress.  Jazz up the look with high heels and and chunky necklace, or play it down with your favorite basic pieces and a pair of flats.

Nasty Gal

Nasty Gal’s Memorial Day sale lets us take 40% off selected styles.  I’m always afraid when I see “selected styles” because usually that means the worst reject styles that nobody wants anyways, but this time, Nasty Gal has given us a selection of 1,400 different styles to choose from in this sale! Woo!

Here’s a pair of cropped and ripped black skinny jeans.  For a limited time take 40% off $118.00.

Today’s Hottest Finds

Created with the StyleChat App

Let’s be real, 90% of the fun of going out for the night, is dressing up.  So I scoured the web for the hottest dress and accessories to create a sizzling hot outfit.  Whether you’re impressing a guy, or impressing yourself, you can’t go wrong with a little black dress.  If you want that effortless look…that “I want to look sexy without looking like I’m trying to look sexy” then wear a dress with long sleeves.  Make it tight and body-forming with some fun sexy cutouts like the one from Nasty Gal featured above.

For jewelry, pick your favorite piece and go with it.  I chose a pair of drop silver earrings to match the silver chain in the Chanel bag.  Speaking of which, if that Chanel bag were, $6,000 cheaper I would buy it! (Actual retail price of the Chanel bag: $6,700.)  The pink color is an obvious winner!  When you’re wearing a black dress, you need at least one colorful accessory to give the look some flavor.

The shoes are from the brand, United Nude.  They’re a statement piece that will have everyone at the party talking.

Stay tuned for more hot looks coming this way and thanks for reading Molly’s Runway.

Fashion that’ll Take your Breath Away

It’s been seven years since the last time I’ve been to LA.  I’ve been loving Northern Cali for the past 1.5 years, but there’s something so freaking awesome about SoCal.  So with that in mind, today’s post is about what takes your breath away.  I’ve been swept up by the ocean, the mountains, the piers, the summer weather, the palm trees, the architecture, and the mansions.

But in terms of fashion, the pink leather pencil skirt in the picture below instantly caught my attention and rocked my world.  Elle Woods, anyone?

Over the Moon about this Oversized Bag and Oversized Coat

To get the perfect look this week in the cold weather, combine your fitted garments with baggy, oversized ones.

Created on the StyleChat App

Created on the StyleChat App

Start with a fitted black turtleneck.  It’s chic, it’s casual, and it’ll hug your body like the chocolate on a chocolate covered pretzel. To keep the cold at bay, throw on a long, oversized coat.  There’s something ruggedly hot about an oversized coat.  If your short, don’t worry.  It may drown you, but it’s all part of the oversized look!

I got a little carried away with the shoes in this look, but if you’re feeling risque, go for a pair of heels with a intricate platform.

To continue with the oversized trend, add a large handbag to your look.  When in doubt, make it pink to stand out.

Last but not least, to finish off the look, add a pair of hanging earrings and a warm infinity scarf.
