How to Style a Dress to Flatter Your Body Type

Accessorize

When I first ordered this red dress online I thought that it was the most beautiful thing I had seen.  I was wondered it wouldn’t look good on me…red never does…but I bought it anyway because it looked good on the model and I hoped it would do me justice as well.

When I first put it on I stared in the mirror thinking I had just been swallowed up by a sea of red.  It hung past my knees (thanks to my height complex), it had tons of extra material that did absolutely nothing to show off the curves of my body, and it did absolutely nothing for my fair skin tone.

Months later, in another attempt to make this dress work, I tried it on again.  This time I paired it with a pink hat and silver hoop earrings.  I started to get a bit of a boho vibe, totally something that i strive for in my everyday wardrobe.

I snapped a few pics and watched my enthusiasm die as I starred at a short girl trying to pull off a tall girl’s dress.  Then I slipped on high heel boots.  Okay, I can fake my height a bit.

There’s nothing I can do about the fact that red is not my color, but I wanted it to be so I stuck with it.

Add Shape

Then I complained to my boyfriend that the dress was still drowning me.  He suggested I throw on a belt.  I couldn’t believe it but it helped!  It was like a whole new dress.  I had a shape, I had accessories to make it pop, I had heels to fix my height complex, and now I had a whole new look to wear to boozy brunches, wine touring, and classy affairs.

I wore this red dress look to a fashion event in the city and the cameras kept following me all night.  If I hadn’t of been wrapped up in finding a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s to add to my shoe collection, I might have loved it.

I brought out the beautiful red color of this dress by pairing it with a variety of pink and brown.  Last but not least, I wore my Gucci sunglasses to make the look even more chic.

Three Winter Red Dresses Perfect for a Night Out

Express red dress

I spent many years avoiding red dresses believing that they didn’t flatter my skin tone and my auburn hair. It wasn’t until this season when I saw hundreds of red dresses that I just couldn’t resist. I loved this red dress from Express because it was elegant, sexy, and understated yet stylish. Midi dresses give you the comfort and sophistication you don’t get with mini dresses. The shoulder cut-outs make this dress perfect for date nights out on the town.

Although the Express dress is no longer for sale, here are a few others that are sexy, stylish, elegant, feminine, and totally chic.

Get the Modern Version of Julia Robert’s Look from Pretty Woman

Twenty-seven years later and the fashion in Pretty Woman is still relevant.  That movie made an impact on us in more ways than one, including it’s fashion.

We were first captivated by Julia Roberts on screen when we saw her in this sexy white and blue cut-out dress.  What was sexy then, is still a trend now!  Cut-out dresses can be found at any store selling trendy items in 2017.  Shop the white and blue dress from ASOS here.

Don’t forget her incredible stripper boots! These boots definitely made an impression on me, and since then I’ve always been searching for the perfect pair.  To be honest, my perfect pair of thigh high patent boots would be hot pink, but you definitely can’t go wrong with these classic black ones.

During the day, she covers up her “lady of the night” look with a tie-up white blouse which you can shop here.

Her transformation from a Hollywood Blvd lady to a Rodeo Dr classy lady is mesmerizing.  Shop the white dress here.

Of course we all remember the red dress she wore in the evening.  Who knew the off-the-shoulder style would be one of the biggest trends of 2017!  You can shop this red gown here.

And ta-daaa, you’re 2017’s modern Pretty Woman.

Love,
Molly

Red dress, white pumps, gold jewelry, and a hot pink bra spell out a perfect V-day outfit.  But if you’re wanting to turn it up a notch and bring out your inner pussycat doll, think short, tight, and high.  That is, a “short” dress, a “tight” dress, and a pair of “high” heels.

The above look features a hot red A-line dress with a sexy cutout below the bust.  Add some sequin gold pumps into the mix, a simple clutch, and a sexy necklace and you’ll be all set for your Valentines Day date.

Think red, think black, think sparkly, think sexy.

Happy Valentines Day.

Love,
