The Must-Have Fashion Item of the Summer

No, the must have fashion item of the summer is NOT a pink motorcycle.  I however felt the need to pose with this one because it made my inner spirit animal truly happy.  Once again, this is proof that dreams really do come true when you’re walking the streets of San Francisco.

The must have fashion item of this summer is – drum roll please – the white miniskirt!  It may not be the most practical item in your closet but it is your most show-stopping piece for summer and I’ll tell you why!

1 – It goes with everything

Wear it with your favorite bold color top like hot pink or bright blue.

2 – You can achieve a “sophisticated sexy” look with a monochromatic outfit

Wear it with a black top and keep things simple and classic.

3 – White skirts show off your confidence

White skirts aren’t the most forgiving item in your closet.  Black is often considered the edgier color, like when you wear a black leather jacket. But to be honest, only true badasses can pull off white!

4 – White screams “SUMMER VACAY”

No beach vacation is complete without some white attire.  White skirts work great as bathing suit coverups.

One last piece of advice: be sure to find a white skirt that isn’t see-through! That’s half the battle. Opt for thicker fabrics, or ones that have linings.

Mastering the Art of a Costume Party

I’ve never really been that into costume parties, primarily because I always chose my costumes five minutes before the party.  Recently however, I’ve discovered how much fun a costume party can be if you LOVE your costume, and put more than five minutes of thought into it.

Several years ago my dad got me a pink hard hat and that’s when construction worker became my “go-to” costume.  I finished off the look with a construction vest and a pink tool belt for my waist.

Every costume needs something special to make it stand out.  While the pink hard hat is already pretty flashy, I wore 6-inch platform heels to feminize the look a tad bit more!

The best costumes, in my opinion, are the ones that are loosely based off something, and then bedazzled with your own burst of personality.  Since my daily style is typically ultra-feminine and girly, for costume parties it’s fun to play a different role, a more masculine role…Something out of my comfort zone, but oddly satisfying and quirky.  The construction worker costume fits all my requirements.

While I didn’t fix any pot holes this weekend (Sorry San Francisco!), I did have a lot of fun pretending.

Celebrating DIY and Creativity at Brit+Co’s Re:Make Festival

On a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco, 1000’s of people gathered at the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion for the annual Re:Make festival put on by Brit + Co.  While arts and crafts are fun, I was drawn to the event for another reason.  Anyone who regularly trolls youtube for awesome female covers, has probably come across a cover or two by Madilyn Bailey!  She opened with her cover of popular cover of Titanium and then proceeded with some of her originals!

Besides loving her voice, her pink bomber jacket was also pretty awesome!  Here’s where you can buy one that’s similar:

After the great performance, it was a blast checking out all the goods.  From delicate jewelry to cool party decorations and more, there was a lot of cool items to sift through.  I came across two t-shirts that were all too real and and sometimes too true!

All in all if you missed it this year, you definitely want to keep Re:make 2017 in mind!

Summer Orange and Polka Dot Heels

Screen Shot 2016-06-03 at 7.25.50 PM

While everyone’s preparing to fight the upcoming heat waves, I’m just hoping San Francisco summers will let me go jacket-less at night time.  As a fashionista growing up on the east coast, I know what it’s like to ruin an outfit with necessary sweaters and coats.  That’s why on these beautiful summer days, it’s time we truly take advantage of wearing our favorite sleeveless tops unimpeded by any other piece of clothing.

Check out a couple of these hot summer orange items and enjoy the shorts-weather while it lasts!

Like Charlize Theron showed us at the Critics Choice awards, a black dress with cut-outs could be the perfect way to turn heads at whatever party you attend.  Keep the look light and boho with a floral design on a black cut-out dress like the one featured below.
