Get the Modern Version of Julia Robert’s Look from Pretty Woman

Twenty-seven years later and the fashion in Pretty Woman is still relevant.  That movie made an impact on us in more ways than one, including it’s fashion.

We were first captivated by Julia Roberts on screen when we saw her in this sexy white and blue cut-out dress.  What was sexy then, is still a trend now!  Cut-out dresses can be found at any store selling trendy items in 2017.  Shop the white and blue dress from ASOS here.

Don’t forget her incredible stripper boots! These boots definitely made an impression on me, and since then I’ve always been searching for the perfect pair.  To be honest, my perfect pair of thigh high patent boots would be hot pink, but you definitely can’t go wrong with these classic black ones.

During the day, she covers up her “lady of the night” look with a tie-up white blouse which you can shop here.

Her transformation from a Hollywood Blvd lady to a Rodeo Dr classy lady is mesmerizing.  Shop the white dress here.

Of course we all remember the red dress she wore in the evening.  Who knew the off-the-shoulder style would be one of the biggest trends of 2017!  You can shop this red gown here.

And ta-daaa, you’re 2017’s modern Pretty Woman.

Love,
Molly

The Greatest Boots are Sky High

Sometimes all we need to update our wardrobe is a pair of boots that are thigh high without the price being sky high! Am I right?

There are very few perks in experiencing winter.  Some will say skiing is a perk; I’d argue that’s more of a chore.  Some would say snow is so pretty, I’d say palm trees are more pretty and they don’t turn us into an icicle.  Some would say winter makes us appreciate summer; I say I’d still appreciate summer if summer were all year round.

One thing we can agree on is that knee-high or thigh-high boots are a big part of making winter tolerable.

The Coziest Sweater Dresses to Scoop up Now

Sweater dresses are one of those hybrid trends that provide the style you want in your daily look, with the comfort you rarely achieve outside of your bed at home. Think of sweater dresses as the closest you can get to wearing a Snuggie in public.

While some sweater dresses are bulky and give you extra space all around (so you can eat a big Thanksgiving meal!), other sweater dresses are more tailored.

In the cold Fall/Winter weather, sweater dresses look great when worn with stockings.

So when is the best occasion to wear sweater dresses?  Well, if you’re living on the East Coast, sweater dresses are probably a staple in your wardrobe.  Weather you’re heading to class, to work, or out to happy hour sweater dresses solve your problem of wanting to look dressy while staying warm!

If you’re on the West Coast where nine out of ten people live in jeans, a sweater dress is a great way for you to show off your femininity in a dress while keeping your general vibe still “casual and cool.”

You can go as crazy as you want with a sweater dress.  Sometimes a crazy pattern is the way to go because you’re certainly not gonna turn any heads with your safely tucked away cleavage!

Sweater dresses beg for our creativity.  Combine a layered look sweater dress with a pair of stockings and pumps, and you’ve got a killer look for the office.

It’s important to exercise one caution when buying sweater dresses.  It’s one thing to dress comfy, but it’s another thing to surround yourself in so much fabric that it would take an entire army to find your body.

Sweater dresses can be notoriously “boxy” and take away all the natural shape you have to offer, like that dreidel costume your parents made you wear as a kid.

Despite what people say, a sweater dress can be very sexy, especially if you wear it with a pair of thigh high boots.

Sweater dresses can even show some skin!

If you’re not convinced of the magic of a sweater dress by now, you’ve obviously never experienced snow.  Or you’re a man.

Either way, there are so many sweater dresses to shop, if you weren’t a fan before, you should be one now!

5 Wardrobe Pieces Not Made for Short People

Screen Shot 2016-01-12 at 6.52.11 PM

As someone who is vertically challenged, I know my fashion limitations.  “Short people problems” extend beyond not being able to reach something on the top shelf.  Here are five common fashion items that a tall person can pull off better than a short person.

Long Coats:  I once bought a long black leather jacket.  It seemed like a great investment at the time, until I later realized that every time I wore it I looked like I was being swallowed up by a coat!

Maxi Dress: If you’re short and going to buy maxi dresses, just make sure you have your seamstress on speed dial because there are most likely no high heels high enough to make the dress not drag on the ground when you walk!

Romper/Jumpsuit: The full pant jumpsuits are worse than the short rompers because short people have to deal with a waist that bunches due to excess material as well as the pants part of it that drags on the floor.

Thigh High Boots:  This one make me a little sad.  Thigh high boots may not look as good on a short person because they swallow up too much of our legs, but there are some things that I can’t give up!  This is one of them!

Wild Patterns: I’ve never been a huge fan of crazy patterns, but the odd time I’ll find a patterned dress that stands out!  Unfortunately, patterns can make a short person seem even shorter.  It’s best to stick to solid colors as a rule, but again, there’s exceptions to this rule of thumb!

Bring in the New Year with 4 Awesome Style Resolutions

IMG_11635

So far it’s been a great holiday break.  Lots of lounging at bars, drinking with friends, dining out, and spending time with family.

The New Year is a time to make resolutions we’ll never keep. I like to focus mine on style resolutions that are equal parts wild, fun, and bold.

Resolution #1: Rock the thigh high boots whenever possible.

Resolution #2: Don’t underestimate the power of a sweater dress.  They’re warm, comfy, stylish, and cute.  What more could you want?

Resolution #3: Rock the red lipstick despite not being able to pull it off quite as well as Taylor Swift or Nicole Kidman.  There’s nothing wrong with trying!

Resolution #4: Bring in the New Year with some awesome chunky ring bling!

One Sweater, Three Looks for Different Occasions

You may not want to work overtime, but your sweaters do! One simple sweater can take you from work to happy hour drinks to hanging out with friends on the weekend.

Look #1: Wear to Work

Wearing a bold color like blue will not only help you seem more confident and in-charge, it will also help you break up the boring grey-ness of a typical office.

Look # 2: Casual Weekend Chic

My favorite part of this look is the camisole.  Even if the sweater covers it all up, there’s something to be said for feeling good about what’s underneath.  Others may not be able to see it, but you can feel it, so opt for a nice silky camisole.  FullSizeRender[2]

Look #3: Classy Night Out

The thigh-high boots in this look are what turn up the sex-appeal.  Sure, the sweater and dress are pretty conservative and understated, but those boots will add the perfect balance! FullSizeRender[1]
