Layer Me

IMG_00400

Visiting the East Coast in the middle of winter reminds you of one thing: the importance of layering your clothes! I like to put a black sweater over my black dresses to make them look like sweater dresses!  Then, when I’m dancing my butt off on the dance floor (like last Saturday night!), I can take the sweater off and heat up the stage with the backless black dress underneath!  So how do you prevent yourself from feeling like a big padded marshmellow when you have on all your layers?  Don’t wear white. Just kidding, the marshmellow feeling isn’t all that bad when you’re outside and it’s freezing!

After being in 12F degree weather, I can’t wait to get back to the West Coast in a few days!  I’m ready to shed the winter coats, the gloves, the sweaters, and the scarves!

Make your Look Monochrome

I get an email this morning; it’s a Nasty Gal newsletter that informs me that holiday sparkle is out and monochrome is in.  If you’ve seen the Gilmore Girls episode that gawks over the power of Marie Claire to forbid the wearing of jean jackets, this moment was very similar.  I don’t know whether it’s the rebel in me or not, but there will definitely be more wearing of sparkles…some things just never go out…they’re called classics.

Nonetheless, I thank Nasty Gal for making monochrome sexier than ever.  Whether you want a pair of pants, shoes, dress, or top, Nasty Gal makes dressing monochrome easy and fun!

Sporty and sexy from head to toe.  Rock this outfit down the street, to the gym, to the mall, or to a party.  Pair it with a bright colored handbag to keep the look interesting.

Black and white = bold and beautiful!

Black and white stripes in close proximity may bother your eyes, but there’s no denying this dress is sexy.  Zip it up or down depending on the occasion.

Let the snow outside your window be the best inspiration for your monochrome outfit.  Blend in with white, or stand out with black.  Either way, stick to monochrome for a sophisticated and fun look this winter season.
